Those really came out well. As usual, your product photography is exceptionally professional.

(I'm a photographer. Why do my pictures stink then? Because I live in an ugly environment and only have good film cameras right now and I'm not shooting film these days. TMI!)

I have to admit, I've come back to look at these soaps several times since you've posted. They are so gorgeous. I love the colors.
I have a question. They almost appear 3d in the 1st picture, especially--as in the green, blue, and orange almost look sculpted and as if they are lying up higher than your base colored soap. Are my eyes just seeing things, or are there differences? And if so, how do you do that? It looks so cool!

I hope I described this well enough.

Hmmm - I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but I can describe how I did it and that might help. I split my batch into 4 -and coloured them blue, orange, green and TD. Then i poured 'stripes' into my slab mold to fill the base. I then poured different coloured stripes over the top of the first stripes (in the same direction) until I had a second layer (banging the mold a bit to make sure it was settled), then kept building it up in that manner until I had used up all my colours. The I swirled though the whole thing like a madwoman! The batter was at thin trace when i poured, so not super duper runny, thick enough for the soap colours to 'sit' on top of one another. It wasn't particularly planned that way, it was the thinnest I've ever gotten my batter so i was thrilled to have the chance to play with it a bit more.

(Seriously - you could make a plain soap, then crack some for newbie's new lightning fissure technique ... the best of both worlds ).

PS. I'm not big on this style of colour (you might like Yoshida Clyde's work - Vibrant Soaps), but your soaps do look really nice!

I have to say that my favorite soaps are the simple and plain ones. I really like symmetry and uniformity. A simple white bar is just beautiful to me.

I bevel now and again if I think the soap needs it. The slab mold ones definitely look better bevelled.

Yes - to me too. @Misschief posted some on Zany's thread and I thought how lovely they looked. It's just my creative side that wants to try all this stuff I see on you tube, so that's the side that's winning at the moment. If I make a plain white soap, I ask myself, what fragrance would it be..?
