The ones that don't like handmade (we also make jams and pickles) just don't get anything for Christmas! Just a merry Christmas to you. I do not buy commercial gifts for anyone.

Selling your handcrafted soap as a business is really hard work, but selling insurance would be just horrible. I could never do it.

:D I love this and love that you stick to your principles! I love pickles too- whoever doesn't want them I'll take them. LOL!!!

Who died and made you God?

Different strokes for different folks! :D

Yum! Homemade jams and pickles. That brings back memories of when I was a little girl and helped my great aunts with canning. I especially miss the homemade applesauce. The stuff in the stores may say "homestyle" but it's not.

I think most who get my soap are happy.

I'm not happy. I haven't gotten any of your soap. :( You were supposed to row over here in August and I've yet to see you arrive sunburned, salt encrusted and frizzy haired. BTW, I fed your funnel cake to the cat.

I don't understand this reaction. It's bizarre. I have quit doing any cross stitch for others because I don't think they appreciate the time that goes into it. However, everyone seems to love the soap. Certainly no one has criticized me for it. I tend to get remarks like how did you figure out how to do that? Is it hard? What made you decide to try that? You must be smart to know how to do that? And that kind of thing—not bragging or patting myself on the back at all—people tend to think it's really a difficult process. I tell them it's more or less about as hard as cooking. :D

Everyone has been asking for soap for Christmas. I guess I need to feel grateful. I just can't imagine what would prompt someone to criticize someone else for making soap. :wtf:

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. In a way it's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who has experienced negativity from family in regards to soap making & other hobby or job choices. But it's also sad in a way that there are so many negative & opinionated people out there! Green Soap, thanks for reminding me that I need to make more jam in the morning! My teenagers have been asking me to make more, but I've noticed that the peanut butter lasts a lot longer when we're out of jam! 8)

Bugger - thought you'd forgot, I am a little burnt ATM, but not from rowing, not salt encrusted, as I haven't been to the beach this week, frizzy hair - nooo and as for that funnel cake your ears were burning were they ? I was just telling a friend about that cake and she knows all about them, she told me what they were like - her daughter lives in Texas. Mmmm, fed it to the cat did you, hope he or she liked it. So where do I send the soap - Hazel C/- U.S.A. and hope you get it.
