My lilac soap smells nasty. At first I was happy that it wasn't "too lilac-y" if you know what I mean... Then it started to smell yucky as it cured, I think it is the lard coming through? Anyway, I think I may have to rebatch it and add some more of the lilac EO, but I don't know how... How would you go about rebatching this soap?

If you make lilac that smells good, please let me know what you used!

I love Lilacs, my mom has an entire yard full of them. The smell in the Spring is heady, wonderful and so fresh. I want so much to make a small perfect batch for Mother's Day.

I've tried several - all straight Lilac - with heinous results. They all smell OK OOB, but in soap, they have an almost 'infection-y' smell. I've tried different recipes, different vendors, but all are eww.

No No No! That's not what I meant!

I'm the worlds worst rebatcher - Bar none. I offer no help at all.

I was just hoping that someone would come along and tip their hand with the secret of a really good Lilac FO.

Personally I used, WSP, Herbal Accents and SOS. Where did you get your FO? With my stinky batches it could have been the FO, the recipe, or the conditions. I just don't know.

It's one of those things 'on my list' make mom a perfect lilac soap.

I haven't tried anything from Brambleberry - I try to stick to East Coast suppliers.

I don't use lard. So I would have no idea if that's what you're smelling. If you ever make a batch of Lilac with no lard and it smells like heaven on a summer afternoon please let me know! I might have to breakdown and order some.

I think I read that Pepperi27 has a rebatching tutorial that Brambleberry is putting on their website. She, Pepperi27 has it on her blog, too. It has great pictures and easy to follow step by step instructions.

Have either of you tried the Saveonscents Lilac? I've had pretty good luck with it.

I have a great lilac...I am seeing that everyone is naming vendors...

Hope I do not get bounced off this board.

I get mine from Simple Soothings on their prebuy...its called True Antique Lilac. It is out of this world. DH is from NY and states that its "exactly" lilac. I just got a complaint about it today. That I did not have enough Lilac scent in my soap. I was afraid of over dosing someone. I only used .5 PPO. Its strong to me

I tried SOS, it smelled great OOB and was lovely in a lotion bar, but for my soap it didn't do so great.

Again, I don't know if it was my recipe, the conditions, or just the FO.

I think it's fine to name vendors in a respectful fashion....I think a rant or just being rude would be more likely to get you bounced.
