 Just like everyone here probably..lol But today I made my 2nd and 3rd batches ever. Still 100% CO but scented this time. I got my huge order from NDA and lots of goodies. Made Lavender w/ ground lavender buds and a citrus mint salt bar (used listea cuba to anchor orange x5) Smells delish! I will post pics on the gallery later once I cut my lavender. I put the salt bars in my silicone muffin molds. I only used 9 oz of sea salt but it should be ok righ?? Anyway, can't wait to soap again!

BTW, I am quite proud of myself because I made the 2 batches simultaneously!! 2 pots with equal amounts of oils.. same recipe just different scents. A whisk in each hand.. stop .. stir.. I had fun!!!

I bought one and used it for my first batch but I found it bulky.. and I burnt the motor in it.. Trashed it today.

Sorry to hear that. As with any stick blender, you don't want to use it on all the time til you reach trace. Turn it one for a couple of minutes, turn off and use it as a stirrer with it off. Then turn it back on for a minute or two. Turn off. Rinse and repeat. :D

I prefer my whisk. I used it the first time like how you instructed but it was a cheap SB.. only paid 9$ brand new. I find them awkward too. I haven't experienced fast moving fragrances yet and I want to be prepared. There's something about the whole whisking thing.. the feel of it. The whole process fascinates me. LOVE IT!!

congratulations! There is so much to find and experiment with this addiction! I understand what you mean that the stick blender can be awkward. I just stand mine up and hold it in place and let it do the work. I am all about instant gratification, lol. I think it is awesome you like to hand stir! :D

wow, ive had my sb for 3 yrs, lots ot soap made and never burnt it out, its only on for maybe less than a minute at a time.

That is good to hear. It doesn't take my soap long at all to reach trace, and I just hold the SB in place until that occurs, turning it off a few times and stirring briskly. It never gets hot really. I decided to get a nice SB though, but think eventually will start using a drill bit extension or something.

Good job, and welcome to the addiction! It sure doesn't take much to get hooked! :)

Re: stickblenders- I only use mine in short bursts of maybe 5 seconds per burst every now and again. Too much more than that and things start moving a bit too fast for me depending on the FO.

IrishLass :)

Great soap!! I haven't made soap in weeks and I am missing it but just dont have any more storage area to cure it all. Two batches at one time is daring.
