Yesterday I made a beer oatmeal soap and I like it very much because it's creamy. :)

I mixed the lye with frozen beer and added the ground oatmeal at medium trace. It fully gelled.

Here is a picture. I cut it today. :D

That looks wonderful! I haven't made a beer soap yet, but yours sure makes me want to!

Thank you guys. :D It was a lot of fun making this soap. I put the beer into the fridge for 3 or 4 days until it was totally flat. I didn't boil it, so no idea if there was still alcohol or not? :?

Anyway, I added the lye VERY slowly and had absolutely no problems with overheating (the temperature of the lye was only 80 degree F and I had to reheat it) and also it didn't stink (I have read many horror stories about beer which stinks when it's being mixed with lye).

All went smooth and I was very glad because my last two batches did fail and I had to rebatch them. So happy that this batch is a success. :D

Beer Soap would be a great Father's Day gift!!! Your bars are beautiful! Thank You for sharing!

Thank you. Yes unscented, should be nice for sensitive skin. :)

I have used the following oils:

- Olive Oil (infused with Calendula petals) 28%
- Cocounut Oil 28%
- Avocado Oil 17%
- Castor Oil 13%
- Mango Butter 10%
- Stearic Acid 4%

No sarcasm I promise, but why beer?! What is the benefit to using beer in soap? Does it leave any kind of scent behind? I'm really not knocking it, it sounds very interesting, I just wanted to know the reasoning behind it. Thanks!
Oh and BTW, the soap is beautiful! I adore that wholesome, natural look!

Beer adds more bubbles.

Your soap looks amazing!

I've never used beer ... and too be honest I'm scared to ... but you make it sound easy ... but I suspect it wasn't! Congratulations!

My beer and milk soap has the same color...that's weird!

Did you use a dark or a light beer? I used a black and tan which I thought would give a darker color, but I suppose not. Maybe the milk lightened it up.

@adoptapitbull: I have used a light beer.

@Dragonkaz: It was really easy, easier than expected. Give it a try.

@All: Thanks for the compliments. :D

using beer...

I don't drink the stuff (beer I mean) and have 5 bottles of Corona left in my frig from a party. Maybe I can use it to make some soap...I noticed that the beer recipe that you shared Fichen, has stearic acid. I've never used that. Is it necessary to put that in the soap. If it is necessary, where do I purchase it? Would a drug store have it? What does the stearic acid do for the soap.

@Jerry S: No, Stearic Acid is NOT necessary. I just have a lot of Stearic Acid left, that's why I used it. It makes the soap harder but it definitely is not necessary. :)
