My inner type A wants to know for sure! :)

Recipes calls for 6.9 ounces of lye, 40 ounces of olive oil, 10 ounces of coconut oil, 16 ounces of water and you want to make some bar soap and liquid soap.

Right now I have the oils set in different containers rdy to go so all set there

Is it something as simple as just using 3.5 ounces of lye in half of the oils and 3.5 ounces of potassium hydroxide in the other half for liquid soap? Or do I need to do some diff calculations?

Liquid soap is a completely different animal. I haven't made it yet but I have read up on it. You need to cook it and make it into a paste and then dilute it and add more ingredients while doing so. Maybe somebody who knows more will chime in.

Liquid soap needs potassium hydroxide.
Solid soap need sodium hydroxide.
They are both forms of lye, but react very differently when added to oils.
