It is storebought. What can I use that will keep the soap transparent? Stearic acid and Propylene glycol are the only possibilities I could find. Would one of these work for my problem? Do you have other suggestions?

Would I have to heat up the ingredient and the soap to mix them?

a few DROPS of salt water might help.
some FOs will thicken also (some will thin), try mixing the FO first with an equal amount of PS 80 (or 60 or 20).

Thank you lsg that is quite useful. So gum arabic and guar gum work the best but if I remember correctly neither of those are transparent?

Thank you carebear I'll try the salt water later today and I found a list of thickening FOs and I'm looking into which are transparent.

I also happened to find Carbopol products, I am looking into obtaining some of that to test.

Be ever so careful in heating to evaporate water. If it boils over (and it does, OH SO EASILY) then it is a royal pain to clean up!
