You're off to a great start! I wish my first batch had turned out so well. What did you use for color and scent?

I used green oxide, I figured it was the safest choice for now. I used a FO mix that I always love, Green Leaf & Bamboo mixed with Earth and Patchouli. I used .7 oz., my kitchen smells great!

Funny, last night I made some pretty m&p Neapolitan slices that my daughter loved. She saw the cp sliced this morning and said, "Ew, what is that? It's so ugly!"

 :)

Beautiful job! You would never know that was your first CP - such a nice looking soap!

Thank you very much, everyone for the nice compliments. I've been spending a freakish amount of time studying...lol

WOW! Those are great - not just for your first attempt, but just great, period! Congrats!

saltydog -

You did a fantastic job! The bars look wonderful and if you hadn't said it was your first batch, I would have assumed you were an experienced soaper. I really look forward to seeing future batches. :D You'll have to let us know how it feels and lathers after it cures.

BTW - great job on cutting, too. I can never get mine straight.

Well, my second attempt wasn't as successful as my first.
Today, I got up early, got the kids off to school and tried another 1 lb. batch.
This one was 60.61% Olive, 36.36% Coconut and 3.03% Castor- a trial recipe out of The Everything Soapmaking Book.

I noticed that it traced almost immediately, and after I added my FO, it started to look curdled. (I used Tuscan Nights from Peak's, which I've only heard good things about) got it into the mold ok, but will those little curdled pieces show in the finished soap?

I'm not sure what I did wrong, I measured everything exactly, the only thing I did different is put my lye water in an ice bath to cool. I cooled it to 100 deg. before I added it to my oils.
Can anyone give me a clue what I did wrong? Many thanks in advance :(
