Has anyone purchased the Humbleebee and Me lotion workshop? If so, what are your thoughts? Or do you recommended something else?
I know there is a lot of free formulations out there. I get tied up in wanting to know why I’m using one ingredient vs the other. I would also like to add a lotion line to my business but do not have several years (or the knowledge) to begin to develop a formula via trial and error. When I started soap, I had extra time AND was able to find several sources that helped me begin the 30/30/40 formulation.

Thanks so much!

I love making lotions! I haven't purchased Marie's lotion workshop but I did take her free mini-course on YouTube. It's a playlist on her channel entitled, "How to Formulate Natural Lotion." It was quite informative.

That being said, I have had a lot of success with this DIY Bath & Body recipe from Etsy. I don't know how much Marie's course might cost, but this recipe is only $9.95 and makes great lotion. A fair number of us here on SMF use this formula and love it. It is excellent as-is, yet also customizable if you ever want to get into the more experimental stuff. My users have loved every version of it that I've ever made. The ingredients are not hard to source, nor particularly expensive. The formulator, Sandra LaBossiere, has almost a cult following, with an active FB group whose mods and users are very responsive and helpful.

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely be following up with that AND following Sandra.
Marie’s course is $250, which is why I hesitated.
I’m totally fine with cold process soap, but I find lotion so much more intimidating! Being responsible for creating something that won’t mold seems so much more risky.

If you want to learn to formulate lotions then I would recommend a subscription to https://www.swiftcraftymonkey.blog/blog/ Susan has lots of information and you can also purchase her ebooks. You can get a basic subscription for $3/month.

If you just want to add a lotion to your product line without much effort why not look into purchasing a lotion base and just add your own fragrance.

I completely understand! Honestly, my recommendation is to start on the simple side of things, before thinking about investing a lot of money into Marie's course. She is a good teacher and no doubt will provide good value in the course. But if your main goal is to make a nice, basic lotion that is safe to sell, then start with something like DIY B&B recipe, or one from Susan's e-books as @justjacqui mentioned above. That way, you don't have a lot invested if you find out that lotion-making is not your thing, or that it doesn't sell in your area.

I sell at craft fairs and some require that things are handmade. I wasn’t sure how strict on it they are?
