And with CP (which I only do now), you have to test all your fragrances. I like how with HP, the FO pretty much worked every time (at least in my experience) if added after cooking.

I do like the smooth texture of CP better, though.

Right there with ya on this! I haven't been able to work either, due to my son's behavior. A couple of months ago we had to take him out of school and homeschool again because he utterly refused to go to school and I had been having to drop him off everyday crying. Just couldn't do that anymore. This time I'm homeschooling for good. No more school!

I try to help other families with children with autism as often as I can. I know I've needed help so many times. I like to help directly.

Anyway, hope your soapmaking gets better and better!!

~I completely understand where you are coming from. If my son needed that id do the same,he loves school even with the problems he has. It's a part of his routine and if we break that routine it's a mess for sure. We do not look forward to the start of summer when school lets out because it throws him off and he acts out for like a month...so we just need one that can handle his fits...It's nice to talk to someone sometimes about this..thank you & I know ill get better, this forum is the reason I feel this way now:) you guys are a beginners blessing :)ty,ty,ty

Could be. What kind of colorant did you use? I generally use oxides dispersed in oil. As long as you don't overcook/overstir it during the heating process (I don't stir it at all, generally, aside from maybe folding it once if it needs it), adding colorant shouldn't impede the process at all :)

I don't do CP because I don't like having to worry about insulating, ash, stuff like that. It's too fussy for me.

I used BBerry's green Labcolor(For high ph) for the Green ,& mica pigment Fizzy Lemonade for the yellow it's from BB 2.I read up on the colors allot & I put in a little of the pigment in my super-fat oil to mix it w/the yellow 1st before adding to my soap.I made sure I had everything measured before hand & sat anything possible id need so I could focus on just getting soap colored & In mold, and followed the instructions for HP & did not touch the soap @ all in-till it was gelled completely and I turned when it looked all done I added supper fat then I already had hubby cut a piece of cardboard to split the batch(in the middle of C-Pot) so I could color in the pot and moved really fast...so I'm still thinking over cooked it or maybe I was not so good with my measurements In the 1st place, even though I ran through soap/calc I posted in another thread I had issues with not understanding how 2 measure correctly, measuring cup v's scale(not that good @ math) and she let me know what to do and I think I get it now.....Thanks again :)I think I'm going to make a no color batch & make a confetti soap, the soap in the pictures I had made both smell really nice & lather really nice so I wanna do something nice with them.

Brandica,

I think your soap looks very nice. I am sorry you felt so discouraged. My first batch was lye heavy (probably because of a problem with the scale I had been using, does that sound familiar?). I have not had another problem since getting a better scale. I have had some soaps that did not turn out the way I wanted them to, but I have not had any that were not usable for something other then laundry soap (and laundry soap is not such a bad thing either). I think it was very brave of you to try the HP method. It frankly still makes me nervous to think about trying it and I stick to CP still. I do wish you luck with your soap if you do either CP or HP, but don't get discouraged!

Thank you,my husband is telling me he loves my HP soap,it smells great and lathers really nice and creamy so this one is usable just i was thinking It was not so pretty & maybe cooked too long..not sure really. My very 1st soap was CP kit from BB(this is only my 3rd time making soap) and we followed directions to the T. but it was Lye heavy so that's the one we have to use for laundry soap. So come to find out it was our scale..the one I used for the HP was a new one and had a calibrator kit I got with it...so I think I know what to do next and I'm thinking I like the smoothness of CP better :) but ill go back to HP when i get more soapmaking under my wing....thanks to this site i got alot of my questions answered even though I was embarrassed to even ask I did and now I think I get it...love this site so much!!
