I am a little tired of making just soap loaves so I decided to try some CP. I made up a luxury bar recipe that includes lard, CO, PKO, Castor, Rice Bran oil, Mango butter, Cocoa butter and Avocado oil. I also added Tussah silk, SL, Kaolin clay, sugar and Cucumber Melon FO. I substituted GM for half of the called for water. I used a multi-cavity silicone round soap mold. Things were going along great. I had trace and it was behaving, that is until I put the FO in. As soon as I mixed the FO I separated the batter into halves so that I could add colorant to one half. By the time I added the color the other half of the soap was thick pudding. :wtf: ...and this FO isn't supposed to accelerate. :lolno: I poured both colors into the mold as well as I could. I had planned to do an in the mold swirl but it was too thick so I opted to leave it alone. It was a warm day so I gelled these in the sun in the bed of my pickup truck. Soap calc. numbers are; hardness- 42, cleansing- 10, conditioning- 53, bubbly- 21, creamy- 42, iodine- 61, INS- 139. This one is for me. Now to try and forget about it for a few weeks.

Here is a pic. of the bars cleaned up a bit. They look more like HP than CP due to those voids.

Wow! you put everything but the kitchen sink in that batch LOL They look great! That's too bad about the FO. Unfortunately that's the frustrating part about cp. Even with reviews you still won't know what's going to happen until you try the FO in your recipe. Who did you get the FO from?

I'm not sure you should advertise that as a luxury bar, as the only thing I can see differentiating your recipe from countless others is the mango butter. If you do advertise it as a luxury bar, I would play that up.

That FO is notorious for acceleration.... I have a love hate relationship with it.... I love the smell I hate the acceleration....

Your soap turned out gorgeous....

LOVELY WORK!!! Great job, BTW. I have see videos of women who put the HP into Tubes and such- WHICH, I am going to do LOTS of! and make various molds as well,. There is this substance used by cake- chefs, which is like a hardening putty, and gets great details. I plan to incorporate them into a mold of my own design, and it should work! Love the colors you made here!

BTW, HP GIRL, WHERE is the HP part of this Forum??? I have been looking & asking all over about it, as I was told there was one here, and I am learning HP at this time.
(Will learn about Cold Process and also Cold Process Oven Process CPOP as I master this, first.)

You are in it. It says CP Soap Forum but it's used for CP, HP, Rebatch, handmilled, CPOP, etc as it says in parenthesis. =3

SWEET!! RIGHT,...OK THEN! Thanks for the heads-up on that one! (Could've saved me a LOT of search time,...OH WELL! : D )
OK,...HP PEOPLE,... learning the process right now, and so I have a Q for you. I want to take the whipper and WHIP THE HECK
out of the soap before putting from the crock pot into the molds- WHY shouldn't I do this?? And perspectives on this please, would love to hear what your thoughts are!!

Seems like a luxury soap to me, with all those nourishing ingredients in it!! Some soap makers are very precise and particular about this topic, I've noticed, and is to be expected and encouraged. But the public generally would accept this as a luxury soap for sure! Let's face it, those ingredients are fantastic, and a LOT of soap recipes use about 3- so, there you go. : ) Sounds great to me !

I would ask this in a thread perhaps you make? Better chance of getting answers.:shifty:

JEEPS! Just thought there might be others learning this process also, or were more experienced than I in it who may have already taken that initiative ?
I'm hardly @ expert level just now! I just want to tweek the process, liek make different molds and whip up the HP to make it's appearance more smooth,
or subtle- as an experiment, and try different techniques! I love soap making!!! BTW- any clues as to a natural chocolate-cherry EO??

I used to do HP and I would think it would dry out and harden during whipping unless you had an awful lot of liquid in the batch. And adding extra liquid isn't such a good idea, because the soap will take forever to harden and will warp.

I think your soap looks great! It's very tricky to use single cavity molds when your raw soap is accelerating like that. The goat's milk also probably helped it move along. Well done!

No such thing as chocolate-cherry EO although you might find a fragrance oil that fits this description. Or you could blend cherry and chocolate on your own.

You generally won't find fruits in essential oil form, except for citruses. You can buy a chocolate absolute but it is very expensive.

I also agree with Stakie. There is nothing wrong with asking a question in the middle of a thread but you will get more answers if you post your own topic with a title that makes your question clear to the reader.

I agree, I usually stir my HP to cool it down for adding my FO. Whipping it would probably cool it down faster and instead of smoother soap it would be a lumpy mess.

I think it turned out really cool looking, Skatergirl! LOVE that you gel in your truck bed! It's been so hot that my soap has gelled in the dining room, but I'm inland where the beachy breezes don't cool as much. :)

I don't advertise anything since I don't sell my soap. I do this for myself and my family. I call it a luxury bar because it's very conditioning, mild, and creamy. :)

The FO is BB's Cucumber Melon.

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words.

^^^^Thanks for the heads-up on the FO acceleration.
