Hi There,

I've made a few standard soaps using M&P.

I'd like to jazz them up by putting shapes within the bar.

Would I literally just cut out shapes with a cookie cutter and then drop them in the melted soap before it sets? Do I need to spray the shape with rubbing alcohol before dropping it in? Should I put it in then cover with the melted soap base over it?

Thanks

This video might help.

You can cut shapes with the cookie cutters and spray them with lots of alcohol then place in your mold and pour the cooled soap over them pouring it onto a wooden spoon and letting it flow off the spoon onto the embeds. I think the pouring temp is 110f? I just know I wait until a skin forms on top of the soap I am going to pour and then I stir it in and pour it over my embeds.

Make sure your embed shapes are made with a non bleeding color.

You can also make embeds that are curls using a cheese slicer, shreds with a salad shooter or cheese grater or just cut some color chunks up and embed these in your soap.

If your making loaf soap you could put the embeds in and pour a clear base that is slightly colored until your mold is a half way full. Let it form a thick skin that can hold the weight of your next layer and add some more embeds after spritzing with alcohol. Then pour another colored layer on top.

Just make sure you don't scent your embeds because you miht want to use them in a different soap later. :D

That's great, thank you so much for taking the time to explain and for the youtube link :)
