How to get this effect?

So, what do you guys reckon is on this soap? Im talking about the powdery white thin layer at the very top of the soap. It looks so pretty. Kinda sparkly but chalky looking at the same time.

Looks like ash to me. I avoid it at all costs cuz I think it's sort of ugly. Happens naturally and I use alcohol to prevent it.

It could be glitter. A lot of soapers use glitter. It could also be a sparkly mica.

Yes it looks like there's some glitter or mica, but the powdery look seems like ash. I looked through their other photos in their shop and seems a couple of the soaps definitely have ash on them.

Yep, definitely ash on the swirled portion, glitter on the straight mauve piping.

I'm not convinced it's ash. What if they are painting the tops of the soap, b/c that's the 'look' they want.

The description says:

Garnished with Glycerine soap: CoconutOil,PalmOil,Safflower Oil, Glycerine, Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Sorbitol (moisturizer), Sorbitan oleate (emulsifier), Soy bean protein, colour.

Does that mean the creator used melt and pour to make the color on top? I ice my cakes using melt and pour.

Yes, that must be it!

You can use melted MP to drizzle over the top of another soap. It's quite easy and it looks pretty.
