I only use Bentonite clay in my shaving bar. Most of my soaps are hot process and the additives are blended in last. Makes for a slick, anti-razor bump shave.

I use bentonite in soap. I mix it with water 1:3 clay to water from the recipe and a little glycerine and leave it for an hour, stirring every so often. I then SB into the oils before the lye. It absorbs all that water. So you’d probably need 1:4 without the glycerine.

I use 1 tbsp ppo to get a little colour. 1 tsp ppo is probably fine for what you are using it for. My Tbsp = 15g = 3 tsp.

High stearic acid % (or palmitic, they are the same for this purpose) makes the shaving soap lather properly, along with at least 60% KOH in the lye. You won't need clay to make it "slippery" if you have enough stearic acid. My current recipes are running 60% Stearic +palmitic aicd, and I've made it as high as 70% with good results.
