have tried Vegemite? (Aussies aside).
What did you think?
I love it, but I'm an Aussie. Do I love it just because I've always had it, and grown up with it?
I've heard of some people trying it and hating it. For those of you that haven't had it, it's hard to describe the flavour. Salty....I dunno.
It's very rich in Vitamin B.
We lived in a house when i was a kid that didn't have a normal oven, just a microwave, and my mum used to use vegemite to "baste" the meat if she was cooking a roast...it never tasted of vegemite though.

I understand what u mean Chrissy.
I grew up with it so therefore eat the stuff.
I didn't however grow up with Sars.... & I just cannot drink that stuff. Its like drinking medicine.

In the days before everyone had email and laptops, DD had a pen-pal from Australia. They used to send each other local 'treats'. Once her friend sent her a little jar of Vegemite, we all tasted it, smeared on bread and butter. It wasn't horrid, but not like anything we'd ever had.

Now, the TimTam's they were good, we still order them online for the holidays. :)

I've had vegamite. not a huge fan but it's interesting.

tastes like spreadable bouillon.

I haven't tried it but am always down to try new things... although when I looked it up (wikipedia) and saw the word "food paste" I was kind of terrified... haha! Sounds interesting though!

Deda, many many years ago I had a boyfriend who worked at the Arnotts factory, that makes the tim tams. I had an endless supply. It was heaven. Not good for the wasteline though :(
I think as far as Aussie exports go, Tim Tams were definitely more successful with the internation market than Vegemite.
Carebear, bouillion is exactly right, I think some people even use it for that.

And if you've never "mainlined" before, you have to.
Tim Tam held in a cup of good coffee...and you suck the coffee through the tim tam. So yummy.
The double coat ones are great for that!
