How is this for a basic shampoo bar recipe?

The above looks like a good place to start. I am so glad to see someone that realizes Soap is not good for hair.

As for all natural being safe, The Nite Shade plant Belladonna is highly toxic, but tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant to name a few are Nite Shade vegetables. Not all natural is good.

Whenever I hear people equating natural/organic to healthy, or good for you, all I can think of is poison ivy, poison oak, hemlock, arsenic, night shade, mandrake, etc., etc.,
All of them are "natural/organic" all of them toxic and in some cases, fatal.

Yes, I agree. I had to stop using my shampoo “soap” bars after months. My hair started falling out and my scalp had sores all over it. I make my own syndet shampoo bars and have used them for years now. My family loves them.
