This is a CP soap. I love how the top part has a translucent quality to it. Does anyone know what technique I can use to achieve this? All of my cp looks very opaque. Would letting the soap go through gel give that kind of a look? I dont think its hp....

I wonder if it is achieved through using allot of a particualar oil?

hmmmm, I just cant figure it out :eh:

I'm in agreement with other posters. Maybe a CP mp mix but doesn't look like a CP to me.

me thinks it's a mix b/w cp and mp. the bottom could be cp, with cp shreds/embeds, while the top layer is def mp (with some cp drop swirled randomly).

lsg's link is to a recipe that takes shredded CP or HP soap and mixes it with glycerin to make it meltable and translucent. It is certainly an option for this design. But I agree that M&P is a possibility too. Gelling wont get this translucency. Nor will any particular oil. Alchohols (glycerin being an alcohol) and sugars are what's needed. They alter the way soap crystallizes, so it becomes more translucent.

It looks like a combo of cp and melt and pour to me too.

DeeAnna, did you check on what the link read? It does not use shredded soap. This recipe is a from scratch HP recipe that uses glycerin as a solvent.

Wups -- my bad. I have been reading about all the different ways to do this, and I confused one method with the other method explained in your reference. My apologies, lsg.
