Hello,
I have a four pound mold that I am always lining with wax paper. I have a friend that asked that her soap be smooth but when i line it constantly comes out with wrinkles indents.. so i don't want to have to put out 60 for a no liner mold. Is there any easy alternative?
Thanks.

If you line with freezer paper (or wax paper), you should not have any lines. There's a particular way to do it so that it's smooth. There's a clear tutorial on how to do it. Maybe someone else can post the link - I've forgotten where it is.

oh really would love to see this. i can't do it for the life of me...
any other alternativess?

I think freezer paper stands up to the rigors of soaping better than wax paper and would lead to fewer wrinkles. Another alternative is to trim the soap of any lines which wouldn't be too hard or waste too much soap if this is a log mold; you'd have to trim a small bit from the bottom and sides and if you use a long knife, should come out nice and straight (vs a carrot peeler or wire or a small paring knife, at least with my cutting skills).

Here's a youtube video of the method I've found easiest. No wrinkles at all, except a bit at the end corners, which can easily be trimmed off.

nice tutorial!

i do pretty much this same thing, only i measure my dimensions with a long t-square and a ruler. i also pre-cut the corners to the depth of my box -- much more exact than cutting once your paper box is in the mold. and i use rubber bands instead of tape.

it's a bit of work, but i find it zen-like and don't mind a bit. ditto with beveling :)

The tutorial wasn't mine (I think my last post was misleading). I found it searching through YouTube. Gotta give credit where credit is due!
