Men are victimized in this industry in a big way... youd be suprised what women will try to pull when theyre on the table......
My best friend is a massage therapist and has been for 10+ years. I would not be suprised. Take comfort in the fact that you are generally bigger and stronger than those who are out of line.
That said your new site is great! My only suggestion is a wider table size. Information is the key to a higher search engine rating and the more information you give the better, like you've done so far. Awesome!
Thank you!!... Only thing is I have no idea how to make the table size bigger...the fact that it looks like that as it is is pretty much luck and trial and error. lol... See... My mom has been saying the opposite though, she told me that its a little too verbose and I should try to cut down on some of the stuff that seems to medical and put it more into lay terms and straight to the point... do you agree?? just curious
I like the medical sort of feel for some reason but maybe thats cause Im a massage nerd lol
@Krissy...eeeeeeeeeew lol I would have given that dude one of those UFC elbow punches to the side of his head...lol ... see how he likes THAT...
@krissy/kitty... In regards to pressure, I agree... I like the deeper work, but sometimes deepest is not always the best.. my motto is "no pain, more gain" I ususally use my intuition and perception to go as deep as I can as slow as I can (think of sinking your hands into cornstarch and water...if you try too quick you get nowhere but if you slooooow it down... its good stuff
).... If your body starts to fight against me(or whatever therapist) by tensing up...then the work is not going to do much good and might actually hurt you or make you feel more sore.
I use a pain scale... 1 are you friggin serious i cant feel that at all... and 10 being if you dont lighten up right away im jumping off your table and will beat you with the bolster....
I like to stay around a 4-6...right about in the middle...
Most of the time when a therapist cant get deep enough they are not using the right "tools" (different ways you can use your (the therapist) body to give the client as much pressure as they need, but not straining your fingers/thumbs and wrists) Have to work for longevity because the usual life of a therapist in this industry if they dont take care of themselves is 3-5 years... That being said I know some who have been in the field for 20 or more...... the key is work smarter, not harder... I make use of elbows, fists, forearms etc... even knees if I need to ...
I am definitely not bigger or stronger than alot of dudes I work on (even some of the women lol)... but Im working on that... I have been trying to get into a weightlifting program and stuff to bulk up a bit but its soooooo hard ... I am def a hardgainer...my challenge is I just dont have the appetite most of the time to eat lol...
(dont think im crazy...) but Im never nervous, I can overpower anyone if they try to attack me (again..smarter not harder)... it also helps that I carry a 1.5 ft machete ive sharpened to samauri status (dont believe in guns..im old school)...and I make it well known if someone decide s to get out of line theyre not going to be leaving with all appendages... lets face it... all they have is a sheet in between them and I...
So Im never really nervous about being attacked...for women on the other hand... I always tell my women-therapist-friends that they need to carry some form of protection preferably pepper spray or wasp-spray (the wasp killer stuff...that stuff is WAY worse than pepper spray and it can shoot like 20 ft...with deadly accuracy...way better than pepper spray!)
