Right first post, no idea what the hell is going on! but my first interest lies in cut throat shaving. and since the creams and soaps are £10+ thought it would be far more fun to make them myself. im looking to make sandlewood, hemp, and cedar wood (all very manly grrr!) type soaps.i have also always intreigued by lambs wool fat, any help with this?

:D hi there,
just brows a little through this forum to get a idea of basic soapmaking. :p
I could tell you about shaving soap but it wouldn't make much sense right now!
You could start out by making a 100% lard soap just to get the hang of it without wasting a lot of money. But that will be an all purpose soap; not something escpecially for shaving.
You could use lanolin (lambswool fat) as a part of your oils.

don't be afraid to ask us anything, we're all here to help.
Just so you know, making soap is extremely addictive! :D

The scents you speak of are frangrance oils or essetnail oils we add to our basic recipe. At this website you can search for scents you'd like and there's a list of suppliers.
