Hi,

My name is Maurica, and I am pretty new to soap making. I became interested in December when a friend was having a Christmas ornament party. I needed to come up with 10 homemade ornaments...and I'm not artsy at all! I am also very eco-conscious and very mindful of 'green-ness", so as I wandered through the craft store, I wanted something that was earth friendly, even if in a year or so these got thrown out. So I made soap ornaments! My son and I had a blast! We did glycerine melt and pour, and I'm hooked!

I'm a registered nurse, wife and mother of 3. I'm working on launching my own business in the field of health and wellness consulting. Helping people understand their bodies, the things they have wrong in their bodies, their medications and how they affect their bodies and how they can be more healthy and focus more on wellness. I'm trying to cut more chemicals out of mine and my family's lives and bodies and the glycerine soap works right alongside this, it's win win!!

I already have friends (who I gave my soap away to) who are wanting to buy more, I am making a blueberry mint bar that everyone loves, including myself!

I'm LOVING soap making and would love to attempt a cold process soap someday. I did make homemade laundry soap today, we'll see how that works out!

Thanks for listening, any advice is welcome!!

Reece

Hi Maurica and welcome to the forum. Your business sounds interesting.
Melt and pour is a safe introduction to soap making with little ones running around. With cold process soap making things get more serious since you are handling lye. You'll find lots of information on the forum regarding handling and storing lye (sodium hydroxide).
