I'm totally new to making soap and still checking everything out before I make my first batch. I love the lavender soaps, any hints?

Thanks,

Welcome Dana, there are lots of hints and lots of reading. Lavender can be added as an EO or FO, but I would suggest you start with an unscented soap so you get the hang of the process. Most of the info you need to start is already on the forum, you can search the archives with a single or a few words about subjects previously discussed.

Well hello there and welcome! Lavender is a very popular soap fragrance. Adding lavender flowers to CP soap will make them turn brown, be warned.

Hi Dana :) Yay another person from WI!

What kind of soap will you be making, CP or MP or HP?

Where were you when I thought it would be brilliant to even rebatch with lavender buds??? My creamy white soap became studded with little mouse droppings!!

So I second MaitriBB's recommendation!

I'm thinking on doing the cp, that appears to be easiest. I haven't read much about the hp yet. I'm still trying to get all the ingredients and tools need to make my first batch. I haven't been able to find palm oil yet. I know you can buy it off the internet but I want to see if I can buy it locally first.

Thanks,

Get some books from your local library if you can. That's how I started out. Mother Earth magazine had a full tutorial once, they might have it on line. Study the soap calculator and how to use it.

Have fun learning the art of soap making. Oh and watch out, its VERY addicting! :)
