Hi there! My name is Wendy, and I am super excited to be here. I have been toying with the idea of making my own soaps for a while now, and have been studying techniques, reading books, and researching methods, and I think that I am finally ready to start (tomorrow begins my quest to find lye, lol) I feel as though I have some really great soap ideas (as I'm sure we all do, right? ), and like I said, well, I'm excited. I think, although I would love to have soap that was ready to use more quickly (I'm an instant gratification type of girl, big time!), I am going to use cold-process methods for my primary soapmaking technique.

I could go on, and on....but I am going to dive into the boards!

I look forward to "rapping" with you guys!

Wendy

Welcome to the forum and to the incredibly addicting world of soap making :)

I recommend that you right all your soaping ideas down now that way you don't forget them.
But I also recommend that no matter how badly you want to do one of your ideas for your first soaping experience, do a simple uncolored & unfragranced recipe first. So many fragrances and colors can affect how things go while soaping (accelerating trace, separating the soap, overheating, etc) that it's best for your first time or for your first couple times to see the saponification process with out everything else added in. That way you'll know later on when you do have an accelerating or overheating fragrance that something's going wrong.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your soapmaking journey. Be sure to post photos of your first batch so we can cheer you on!
