Hey just found the site. I am new at making soap but sure can not wait. Hope we all can help each other in here. Anyone know where to get some colors at affordable prices? Look forward to ALL the knowledge here.

Hey and welcome to the forum!

What colors were you looking for? micas? herbal? You may want to check out the shopping recommendations forum, that one may help you out a bit for these types of questions!

Check out SMF Tutorials for some tutorials to get you started!

HEY! I'm From Kansas Too! Im pretty Central myself. Infact im about to go uot to get things to make my first adventure into soap making today.

Are you interested in natural things? There are MANY things you can use that may already be in your kitchen to get great colors.

Turmeric will give you a nice orange/gold.

Carrot juice (instead of water-- use the same amount called for in the recipe) gives a nice pumpkin-pie orange.

Cocoa powder -- light to dark brown, depending on the amt. used

A Whole Cucumber- (take out the seeds, leave the peel). Puree in a blender or food processor. Weigh it, and add enough water to equal the water weight called for in your recipe)- you'll get a yellow with little flecks of tan/green.

I've also used Pop Mica's from TKB Trading
Oxides and Ultramarines from WSP

I haven't used any dyes or lakes, but TKB has a great selection of those as well.
