It's a pure crisco soap and it turned out well. The color took good but I guess it needs more fragrance oil. The scent is not strong enough.
I also just made a co, oo and canola oil soap. It would not take the blue color and turned out a murky color.

Looks good!!

I think most soapers use 0.5 ounce of FO/EO per pound of oil - though it does depend on how strong the FO/EO is and personal preference.

I've been using 1 oz ppo and just recently read that for lavender to use 1.5 oz ppo.

Since my last batch of lavender/lemongrass kind of faded, I thought I'd try a slightly higher amount. It still falls into the IFRA recommendations.

I should mention that I haven't used FOs yet. I've only used EOs in the batches.

Create colour. Congratulations on your first batch.

Remember soaping is addictive. :)

Welcome to the skill.

Best regards,

Thank you!
I used about 1.5 oz. of daystar stiletto blonde. The batch was 4 pounds.

Thanks on the color I am very happy with it.

1.5 oz!? I use 1oz and it makes my eyes water!

Yes, it is strong smelling when added but I'm hoping the scent will not fade after a 6 week cure. This amount was recommended by another forum member in order to have a lasting scent.

I'm open to any tips which will help the scent last. :D

I actually think tinnesmith's 1.5 oz in 4 lbs is kind of low for a fragrance.

Please don't be offended, tinnesmith. This is just my opinion.

I am not offended at all. I am still learning. Next time I will try the whole 2 oz. and go from there.

I always use 1 ounce per pound for fos( unless hp then 1/2 of that), but lavender eo, i would never use a higher amt, yikes that is some strong stuff! If you get quality lav you should be able to use less than 1oz per lb.
