Help, I'm under seize! LOL!!

Ok, just because a batch seized or "traced quickly and thickly" does that mean that the soap is ruined?

I wouldn't say it is for sure ruined. I have had a lot of batches trace and thicken quickly according to the small batches and certain ingredients that I have worked with. They have turned out just fine! What have you got? Tell us so that the seasoned soapers can advise you more accurately.

Here's what I had:

9 oz Crisco
3 oz Coconut oil
3 oz Olive Oil
1 oz Castor oil

2.2 lye
5.7 water

I think perhaps my stuff wasn't as warm as it should have been. I've made it before and although it traced quickly, not as quick as today.

could your f/o caused it to seize? i had a beautiful f/o seize so badly that i had to spoon it into the mold and try to spread it out. could not get top smooth, but i insulated it, it gelled and turned into very nice ugly soap- the bars looked like i had dropped them a few times! lol!

Hi heartsong,

I used EO's, peppermint, tea tree, and eucalyptus. It was seizinge before I even put them in.
