Hi. I am not new to soaping but am a new member of this forum. I am a firefighter, so my schedule sometimes keeps me up at night. I have lurked on this site for a while and decided to finally join in the fun by signing up for an account. I have never met any fellow soapers in real life, so I might as well hang out with the electronic ones

My dad was a volunteer firefighter for years until he couldn't pass some certification, I don't remember which one. He failed it because he couldn't get one of those full face masks to seal to his face because of his beard. He shaved it off, step-mom took one look and said "Grow it back." Selfish as her reaction seems, I kind of can't blame her. He looks freakin' scary without his beard.

LOL...I can definitely relate to the beard thing. I have a small goatee, but, fortunately, our department's policy allows us to have a small amount of facial hair, as long as we can easily seal an SCBA mask.
