Hi Everyone I am so glad i stumbled upon this forum. I attended a soapmaking class in my area in Oct. and fell in love with real soap. I haven't tried a batch yet but I am anxious to learn from all of you. Your soaps are beautiful, I can't wait to try. Do most of you sell your soaps or just make them for your families personal use?

Hi Jnice,
Welcome to the forum!
 I'm trying to set up a business, should take me some more time...
Like a year or so haha

Hello and welcome!

I don't sell at this point, but I would eventually like to.....I just need the insurance, a business plan, and some more experience under my belt. :)

Helloo there

Welcome Jnice999
You will love it.
I find Soaping a challenge and a joy.
It is more of a life style for me at my lifes stage.
I do sell some and that gives me an idea of what is commercial as people are voting with their walletts .
I do love being able to make a comodity that enhances peoples lives.
You also meet heaps of special people thru soaping.
Good Luck

Hi and welcome!

I'm a pretty new soaper and, although I am making so much soap that it's taking over my house, I'm just doing it for fun (started out as Christmas presents). I may take a basket to the office - that should get rid of a few! I guess I should sell them to recoup some of my costs, but so far, I have not.

This soaping is bloody addictive, though! I have, I think, five bars in the shower at the moment and I use all of them every day. I am hopeless. I make mr surf girl give me reviews on lather, feel, etc. He is such a good sport.

Ha! I have nine bars in my shower (and 3 lurking in the vanity cupboard waiting their turn.....)

My DH says they all seem the same to him.....the philistine!!! He does listen really well to all my soapie talk though, so I think I will keep him....

Hello jnice999 and welcome from Australia! I sell MP soaps and body butters and salt scrubs so far but will be venturing into selling my CP soap sometime this year too. You will love it when you make it, and we are all here to cheer you on!

Welcome Janice999 :)

I sell my soaps and other body care products at the farmer's markets and fairs. I had to start selling so that I could make money to buy more ingredients  I found that I LOVED the customers, the atmosphere of the markets and fairs........they are so much fun. I don't feel it would pay to open a store front because of the overhead. I just don't think I could make enough money to keep it going. One of these days, I hope to have a website but simply haven't had the time to do it yet.
