Hi there, I'm very new to soapmaking.......three batches into it so far and only one I like the smell of.
I decided it might be a good time to pick a few more expert brains for advice and recipes, if that's ok?

The best way to get help is to go into the CP forum. Post the details of your recipe, temperatures, etc, consistency and appearance of your batch. The more information the better. Somebody should be able to diagnose the problem and will give you feedback.
