I have been wanting to give soap making a try since I have been making jewelry for so long and want to try something new. I have tried melt and pour soap for a wedding present for a friend, but it did not turn out well. I am hoping to give CP method a try and maybe melt and pour since I am in need of money and it seems like a fun way to be creative and possibly make money.

My name is Kimberly and I am a student and an expecting mother. I live in Phoenix Arizona.

Clare is right. There is a lot to learn about soapmaking, but once you're hooked there's no turning back! You might want to use the search function to catch up on some of the topics regarding the when, where, and whys of starting a business. Lots to consider before putting yourself out there.

Thanks! I know it takes a lot to make money with making soap and other crafts. I've been doing it with my jewelry for years now and it's defiantly not easy, but fun.

Just wanted to let you know there are 2 groups in the Phoenix area that you will LOVE!! One is the AZ Gathering. Google "Az Soap Gathering". They meet in June.The other one is the "The AZ soap Conference". They meet a couple times a year. They both have demonstration, great food and lots of fun.Kathy

Is the AZ Gathering still a for profit thing like the last few years?

The cost to get into the Gathering I believe is around $45. It's 8 hours of demonstrations, lunch included , general information, a swap, vendors with show specials,and free gifts. Everyone gets at least one free gift and samples. Both groups have a lot of information ( recipes too) for new soapers and old, along with make up and lotions. It's great to be around others with the same interests. Kathy
