I've made whipped soap; it's actually pretty easy. There's a starter recipe in Grosso's "Everything About Soap" book. There's also a couple groups on the internet that are dedicated solely to the art of whipped soap. It's just like HP soap; you cook it, super cream it, then let it rest for about 24 hours and start whipping. Then it requires a rot, which is just a cure. Some whippers like to let it rot for months on end; others use it in a week. It's personal preference really.

in the soap recipes forum i posted a recipe and instructions for WINTER SOLSTICE rtcp milk soap. this is a whipped soap-whipping cold processed soap with air so that it floats. this method does not cook/rot the soap.

i LOVE how easy it is!

i made it using nizzies tutorial, messed it up a little(waited a little too long so the whipping became runny and added castor with the solids ) but it still turned out great! Its really the cremiest soap ive ever made (havent made that much yet  ) I def recommend it.This is ass far as the solid whipped sop is concerned. Id love to make cream soap, but cant find any pottassium hydroxide in sweden.

Heya

that looks yummy. How do you make it ? I can find plenty of stuff about CP whipped soap (the mengue style soap), but nothing about the creamy type you made.

Pretty much the process is to add some extra glycerine and SA to your recipe .. cook it to neutrality ... super cream with SA and glycerine ... let your soap rest ... whip it, rot it, and you're done. I know there' s a group out there that specializes in nothing but cream soap ... I think they're on Yahoo.

Oooo! Groovy soap beachgurl! It looks like divinity candy we used to make a Christmas.

Does is harden or is it forever soft (like is has to be kept in a container)?

I'll have to check out Nizzy's recipie.

Thanks guys! :)

I just read about the nizzy method. Looks preaty good, sounds like you need a lot of firmer oils to get the fluff. It looks like his mothod is just plain CP and the soap turns out hard.
Both soft whipped soap and hard whipped soap would be groovy. The soft stuff would be nice to but in a lotion container for travel soap. While the hard stuff would make cool floating bath tub soap. 8)

I just made some HP oilve oil soap, and with about 500g grams left over I whipped it with the egg beater.... it's cooling now, we'll see how it turns out!.

Whipped soap a la Nizzy - It's a pain to make and clean up, people don't like paying for it unless I make cute shapes which is simply NOT my desire or my forte, and for some reason I don't like the way it feels in my hands.

cute tho.

Two different topics in this thread

Whipped soap is the nizzy stuff - with NaOH, makes hard bars, floats
Cream soaps (may also be whipped) with a combo of NaOH and KOH, stays creamy, package in a jar.

Indeed, I didn't realise there were two different types of whipped soap out there when I posted the question. There is a whole world of whipping out there! WOH!

Well I whipped up some left over of an HP batch I made today, and it turned out really nicely! It dried VERY quickly, granted I used a low water concentration, it floats and is very hard and creamy. I really like the feel and and less goopyness compared to the non-whipped part of the batch I made. It also stamps nicely as the surface dries quickly and the air bubbles collapse to accept the stamped image. I whipped with an egg beater. I'll have to give all my HP's a bit of a beating in th future :)

Thanks for all your comments!

then I change my comment to:

Whipped soap bars - with NaOH, makes hard bars, floats
Cream soaps (may also be whipped) with a combo of NaOH and KOH, stays creamy, package in a jar.

Actually Carebear, Nizzy has some cream soap stuff on his site. You can view it at:

http://nizzymoulds.com/Cream%20Soap.htm

He has some very useful observations on rot time there. Very informative site.

thanks for pointing that out. he does also refer to them as cream soaps though, not whipped. just to keep things clear.

Here is a photo of some cream soap made with the biodiesel glycerin byproduct. I used instructions from Catherine Failor as a starting point.

You shouldn't put that in a mug .. someone might drink it thinking it's Starbucks ... it looks fabulous !!

That's my Grandfathers old shaving mug and brush. I'm excited to start using it. I didn't have any jars to fill and I wanted to get a picture of it.

But your right, it makes you want to go up and drink it!
