thanks Hazel, when i cut them, they were very creamy feeling, even more than my favorite soap i make. I would keep one for myself if my cabinets werent already overflowing with soap. We live in a very small space. anyway, i will let you know how they turn out!

I'll be waiting!

I was thinking of you today. I was at the grocery picking up a few items and was browsing the alcoholic beverage aisles. If it hadn't been for this discussion, I'd probably wouldn't have even noticed there was plum wine on the shelf. I thought "Oooh...this might be fun to try" and then noticed right next to it was the sake. So, now I know where they are on the shelves.

Sorry that this took so long to post, but i made the soap, and it turned out to be VERY cleansing. not dehydrating per say, but you definitely feel like you skin has been cleaned thoroughly. It may prove to be drying over time. I havent used it continously though, being that i am still playing with all the soaps from the swap that just took place. :)

Neat read I am just starting with soap. Hope to make beer soap soon. Got some at our last Apple Fest. Its a great soap I use them to wash my hands in the facilitys.

there is a post in soap and restless about making sake soap, here it is:

http://soapandrestless.blogspot.com/2013/01/liquor-in-soap-sake-rice-wine.html

hers turned out very beautiful with piped flowers and bright colors. she didn't do anything special with the sake, only boiling and putting it overnight in the fridge. she said the sake turned bright orange when mixed with the lye. interesting!

Well i finally made the soap and cut it tonight. It turned out super soft and creamy. But this is of course not a true sake, it is Kikkoman's Manjo Aji-Mirin sweet cooking rice seasoning. I would like to try true sake next.....

Hello! I was reading your post about sake soap. Have you made it? I’m interested to know how you made it and if you’d be willing to share the recipe. I have been wanting to try making soap for a while now and my husband loves sake so I thought I’d look for a recipe! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
