I did a boo-boo. I bought the GV all vegetable shortening...instead of the beef tallow and palm...when I cut it this am it felt greasy...is this ok? Or should I throw it all away? The ingredients are partially hydrogenated soybean oil, fully hydrogenated cottonseed oil, mono and diglycerides added.
I know on the single swap oil website it says BOTH of these oils are horriblew in soap....IM SO UPSET!

It's greasy because different oils have different SAP values. I would recalculate your recipe with soybean and see what the difference in lye amount is.

I ran it through the soapcalc & I originally had to use 4.296 oz lye....now recalculated to soybean oil it says 4.229...I have no idea what the heck to do?

I normally round off the number, so the first would be 4.3 oz lye and the second would be 4.2. It's 0.1 oz off. I would try to shred it or cut it and add it to another batch if you want to try to save it.

What was your SF amount?? If it was high enough (7-10%??), then the .1 oz extra lye won't hurt. Or shred and add to a new batch. That would work fine also.
