Grapeseed Oil...

Does anyone use this in their soap? Does it add any positive properties to your soap? I have seen it in a lot of stores here and it made me think.....

I've used it, and like it. I can find it here really cheap. I've read a few times it can contribute to DOS though so I don't use very much at a time.

In soap, I can't tell a difference. In body butter's, oil and scrubs it s a great oil because it obsorbs quickly. In any product grapeseed oil is suppose to help strengthen blood vessels and has antioxidant properties. It's particular value is part of an eczema moisturizing treatment because it brings cellular rebuilding properites deep bleow the skin's surface to moisturize and aid in protecting skin tissue.

I use this oil in my bathbombs. It makes them really moisturizing.

I love grapeseed. The most I ahve used is 15% though, cos apparently it can cause dos.

mellow, DOS stands for dreaded orange spots, caused by oils going rancid (from my understanding)

I've used grapeseed at 5-10% and found it to be very rich in lather and moisturizing.

DOS = Dreaded Orange Spots which is a sign that your recipe was not properly balanced. Some oils make your soap more prone to DOS than others.

Do a search for DOS on this and other forums and you will find it is discussed quite frequently.

I use grapeseed oil in my "Happy Horse" goat milk soap with a few other oils, and also with my Lotion Bars which feel wonderful on the skin, both horse and human seem to like the results.

I love grapeseed oil, but I do not use it in my soaps. I find the shelf life to be too short for my liking. I once smelled a rancid soap made with grapeseed oil in a swap that I will never forget. :shock:

I use it in some of my soap, I replaced the safflower with it. I love using it as a OCM and have dh rub my back with it.

Since I stopped using grapeseed oil in my CP soaps, they last longer. I suspect that grapeseed oil must have a rather short shelf life. So I use it only in soaps that I will use up quickly.
