I want to make a facial bar for myself and was wondering which botanicals are good for the face? What will help keep skin clear?

Yeah, I searched through old posts and found some good info. I made me a bar last night with some pink kaolin clay, green french clay, poppy seeds. calendula, rose, and i think i put walnut shell...oh my, it works! My skin feels so soft, especially my face!

really? cause there's a discussion that lard would clog your pores.
i must say, commercial clinique soap works the best for my acne so far.
in a couple of weeks i'm going to try to make a facial soap too

I need a super gentle soap with a high SF or I get huge spots. Ouch.

For me, I need to remove that oil but not dry out my skin at all.

So many skin types and so many different issues...

(I do like lard though, and even when I get it on my face as is I don't break out - but shea does a number on me!!!)

Here is some good info on clay from http://www.the-soap-dish.com/botanicals.htm

Bentonite Clay

A good choice for oily skin, Bentonite clay is highly absorbent, pulling oil and toxins from the skin. Contributes a wonderful creamy, dense lather to shaving soaps. Not recommended for use on dry or sensitive skin.

French Green Clay
French Green clay is highly absorbent, pulling oils and toxins from the skin. Used in soaps, facial masks for skin types, body powders, and foot powders. Not recommended for use on dry or sensitive skin.

Pink Kaolin Clay
Pink Kaolin is the clay most commonly used for normal skin types. It stimulates and exfoliates without drawing oil from the skin. Use in soaps, facial masks, body powders, and milk baths.
