Hey Everyone,
I've never even made soap before so please excuse
the "not knowing" questions of this post. I'm a big fan
of natural ingredients, organics, and herbs in all things. I especially
love oatmeal in soaps as I have really oily skin.
What I'm wondering is if any of you have an excellent
source for the more organic or natural type ingredients
for your soap. And any tips in putting together a batch
of soap would be helpful. I definately like the rustic
look of homemade anything, soaps included.
Thanks so much,
Dawn

Okay! I am totally organic, due to the market around here adn that is 100 percent pure, all natural, organic soap! I buy strictly from two places Rainbow Meadow is one, although not organic, naural. www.rainbowmeadow.com. I aslo use Mountain Rose herbs. I have been happy with them... www.mountainroseherbs.com. I make a really rustic looking cinnamon oatmeal soap. Most people don't like cinnamon in soap though, soem sya it can be harsh, I haev never had a problem though. tell me if you want the recipe.

Hey, sorry for all the spelling bobbles in the last message, I am baby sitting my little sisters, and htey were enjoying the keyboard with me! They are two and 5. (I am 14):)

I make an herb garden soap that is good too. If you want the recipe I can give it to you.

Good morning Emily,
And thank you for posting. I'd definately like the recipe
for your cinnamon soap. Luv cinnamon. And thanks
for the links. I'll have to check them out.
Now being the plant nut that I am, I want
to give growing some herbs for my soaps
a try. We already have several Rosemary and
Spearment plants. I have a couple herb
books and have been combing the pages
thinking what would be good to use in soap.
Like you, I try to go organic or natural
as possible. So glad that you do too.

Yessssssssss :) Would love to have this one !

Okay, I'll give you the recipes. I am a very throw it together type of person so the recipes are not exact.

Cinnamon Oatmeal

add to your base soap: cinnamon E.O. Till you get the fragrance you want, then add a touch of Clove E.O. It gives a nice smell added to the cinnamon. Add chopped oats, soem people like a lot others just a few... your pick. I usually put 1/4 cup of oats.

If you want my base soap recipe I can give that to you as well.

Herb Garden Soap (don't add too much thyme!!)

Add to your basic batch of soap...
Red Thyme E.O.
Lavender E.O.
Tea Tree Oil
Vitamin E oil
Aloe Vera oil(Fresh, I peel mine from the plant just before I make it.)
Eucalyptus E.O.
And I heard a touch of Mint scent woudl be good in it...
