It’s officially 2019 and I thought it would be fun to see/hear/listen/read to other soapers guilty pleasures regarding soaping. I know we all have those site we go to for inspiration, killing time, learn, whatever...

For me, one of the first sites I found was Ariene Arsenault. I find her to be so inspirational and I love her gentle nature.

Next??

For learning, it was Soaping 101. I've watched many of her videos numerous times. For inspiration, Pinterest is my go to. I could (and do) browse Pinterest soapmaking boards far more than I should. Soapmaking and Baking/Cooking.... my other rabbit hole. The kitchen has been my happy place since I was about 7 years old.

Nope. Once in a while I’ll check out Katie Carson or Arianne. Otherwise, I pretty much do what I want to do. The challenges here give me ideas but I don’t do fancy soaps, don’t like botanicals in or on my soap, don’t care for high tops. Yes, they are pretty but not practical to me. The only soapy fun I do once In awhile are cupcake soaps for one show.

Pretty much sums it up for me. Fancy soaps do not sell and I really don't add anything exfoliating other than oatmeal. Once in a while I get a request for pumice soap but very seldom. No high tops they are pesky to pack

I’m not one for fancy soaps either but it’s nice to see/watch. I always like to get to the cutting portion and never understand why some youtubers don’t show that part!

I’m going to check out Auntie Clara! Like I need another obsession!

Going down the rabbit hole - I've noticed on here quite a lot lately, must be terminology used in the US a lot, the only rabbit hole here is one the bunny digs :D.

I prefer flat top soaps with no botanicals etc but my soap is only for myself and family so I don't have customers to consider. My favourite YouTube soaping channels are Katie Carson (Royalty Soaps) and Pink Dahlia Soaps as I adore her work with soap dough. The monthly challenges here are inspiring but mostly I just wish I had a reason to make more soap so I could try more things. My guilty please is that when I made a chocolate soap I kept sneaking off to sniff it while it was curing, shhhh, don't tell anyone :D

I’m the same way with my Ginger Lime soap! I can’t get enough of that fragrance.

I THINK it’s a reference to Alice and Wonderland....chasing things and getting lost and all that stuff!

It's also a drug reference...which is appropriate since soaping is a drug of choice for many SMFers.

Ariene Arsenault is a favorite of mine to watch, too. Other faves of mine to watch are Kevin Devine's soaping videos, and Royalty Soaps as well.

IrishLass :)
