So I want to make a Goatsmilk soap. I want to include mango butter and Shea butter, but I don't know what kind of recipe to use for it. Any suggestions?

I love goats milk soap. I dont use shea or mango because they're a little harder to keep melted. To have the lightest color of soap I use olive caster and I think coconut. Didn't have my soap bible in front of me, sorry. I use frozen 100% goat milk ice cubes for liquid and I put it in ice water bath. I soap this cool (80 deg) so it doesn't darken or smell. I've been able to do some great swirls and decorations with this. I think it could be done with shea or mango, you'll have to watch your temps to keep it light colored if you care about that.

Thank you for the advice! I'm really anxious to give it a try. I doubt I'm gonna do any swirls or anything fancy just yet with goats milk until I get the hang of it. From everything I've heard, goats milk soap is the best you could ever use. So I'm very anxious to make it and then try it out. :)

I just made a goats milk soap this last weekend and I am so happy with it. I used avocado, almond, coconut, olive and palm and just from cutting and rubbing my hands together after with what was left on my hands it lathered amazing! Just keep it super cool. I did not use an ice bath and it still stayed really cool with just milk ice cubes.

Just be sure to keep mixing long after you think the lye is dissolved. Check out soap queens video on it. It is really easy to have tiny bits of lye left in the milk.

Thank you for the advice! I'm so excited to give it a try. Hopefully this weekend

And if you don't care about keeping it creamy white, just color it on purpose.

I made soap with shea and jojoba once. I decided that those fancy butters and oils are better saved for lotions and lip balms. You just aren't going to notice the difference in soap. The lye does not care that you paid that much for the oil. It is just going to saponify it. I don't HP unless it is liquid soap or rebatched. You may be able to tell the difference if you add them after gel phase in HP. But you don't want to HP goat's milk. So, while it was a good learning experience for me, I won't be repeating the expensive oils in soap experiment. I will eventually try more goat's milk, but I did not find that that was all that noticeable either.

hp-ing gm is a pita coz it will separate. i find it annoying that i have to sb again to make it come together. plus i dont like the end texture.

This has rekindled my desire to make a GMOH soap! Looking at grinding up some oats in my mortor and pestle, 2-3 tblsp, and the same amount of honey. scent, I'm not sure on as I don't have the FO. Will be putting the lye in to some water and some frozen milk. Using a basic recipe, maybe lard, maybe palm. And CP, for the sake of the milk

I love shea butter in my soap and use it in all my recipes. GM is great in soap as well. I generally mix my lye with 1/2 water and then add my other 1/2 of GM mixed with powdered GM to make it full GM to my oils and blend well then add my lye solution. I only use butters as 5-10 percent of my recipe. Except my luxury bar and I use 25%.

Thanks, everyone! I'm gonna give it a try Saturday or Sunday. I'm really anxious. I'm hoping it turns out ok. I've been nervous about making it, but I'm pretty excited to give it a try. :)
