I just molded my first goat milk soap.
When I added the lye to the goat milk (which was part ice cubes and part smaller frozen pieces), everything went well. I left it on the side to prepare my oils and when I got back to the milk, it had turned into a thick cream.

It didn't seem to affect the saponification process but just asking if anyone else has a similar experience. The lye was white as it should be (not yellow or orange) and it seems to have mixed well with the oils.

Oh yeah. Any milk I use does that: buttermilk, goats milk, coconut milk, etc. From my understanding, it's saponifying the fats in the milk but as you said, doesn't seem to affect the soap overall.

Glad I read this because now I know to expect it!

Thanks everyone. The milk was quite creamy and the NaOH probably saponified the fats add your say.
