I ordered some gingerbread essential oil. Has anyone ever used cinnamon for a colorant? I was thinking this might give me the orange/brown color for the soap, and it might enhance the fragrance....

Just a word of caution when using cinnamon, use it by all means, however, use it lightly because it can be a skin irritant to some folks.

I have burned 4 people w/ cinnamon  . Be VERY careful. Nutmeg would make a nice color too wouldn't it?

I've used nutmeg and pumpkin pie spice with no irritation. PPS has a little cinnamon but not much. They do color the soap nicely, but both leave tiny flecks because of the nutmeg. I personally like the flecks though.
(there are some pics I did with PPS on my blog)

oh I forgot to add, in my experience PPS will impart more color (gingerbread like) than plain nutmeg will. (there's ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. in the PPS and some color better than others)

The bottom stamped one that is so brown is colored with PPS throughout the body of the soap, the stamped part is accented with bronze mica though.
The one with the leaf that is just barely brown has a tiny bit of plain nutmeg in it.
