I just tried it, it works, it's soap LOL The lather and bubbles are alright I guess, nothing like my newer batches with palm, coconut, castor, butters, etc, but it was a good place to start for practice. The lather is actually good but it's more clear and thin than thick and white, hard to describe. Since this thread has been resurrected I got an itch to redo the gardener's soap, so I think I will do that tomorrow :D

It is rainy nasty here today and I would like to make a version of your garden soap with the palm oil, etc. Let me know what you use. Thanks.

SmellyKat, here you go:

33% palm, lard or tallow
30% coconut oil
20% olive or other soft oil
10% castor oil
7% cocoa or shea butter

+2T salt in lye water for hardness (I used tallow and it seems to take a long time to harden)

Made a 26oz batch and used this "gardener's mix" (I haven't decided exactly what I want to use, and used an FO I had on hand):
2T oat flour
2T cornmeal
1T coffee grounds
1t each lemon & orange zest
1T dill weed
1.3oz Lime FO (.8oz ppo)

Unmolded, this is why I line even my silicone molds if I don't gel (can unmold after a couple hours without it tearing apart:

I will do my darnedest to wait til tomorrow to cut though.

I cut my garden soap bars yesterday and they turned out nicely. Amy, I used the oils I usually use. Garden mix was: 1T cornmeal, 1T parsley, 1T Dill, 1t sage, 1T coffee grounds and then 2oz of Rosemary. Smells good enough to eat!! haha
Thank you for the recipe!!
