Hi!

I was just wondering if I use apricot puree in OO soap (or any for that matter), do I need to discount the water because of the apricot puree. I use one tbsp ppo so would I discount that much or is it necessary? What about avocado puree or cucumber puree, etc? Some fruit is "jucier" than others.

Thank so much and happy Memorial Day weekend!!!

Yes. I will think that you need to discount it from the water.

So if I use 1 tablespoon of puree, I will take out 1 tablespoon of water as well. Thats my basic guide.

As for those harder puree, I will discount slightly less. For avocado, if I use 1 tablespoon of puree, I will only take out 1/2 tablespoon of water. Cause for avocado, its more oil than water in the puree.

Also, hey! I puree my fruit in olive oil, and deduct that amount of olive oil I used from the rest of my olive oil. Another way to go about it, you may be interested in.

Do you deduct just the olive oil you used for the puree, or puree and olive oil combined?

You know, I used an avocado, and since avocado has natural oils in it, I was curious if I should discount more oil. So, I did a great deal of reading on the subject. I decided not to discount anything else, however, and the otherwise Castile batch of soap turned out great.

In the case of avocado, I definitely wouldn't discount it's entire weight, since this would add a substantially higher weight than your oils actually are, and my guess is that your soap would end up lye heavy.

I hope I made sense. My brain doesn't seem to be in proper working order at the moment.
