I made a batch of soap this morning and just now got around to cutting it and something weird is happening. It has a unplesent chemical smell, almost like ammonia but worse and there are small olive green spots scattered through the whole loaf. There are also white streaks when there was no white dye used and a fair amount of crackle.

This is the second time I used this recipe, the first also had crackles but it was different, figured it was from the TD I used. Not sure if the issue is my recipe or the colors I'm using. Batch did gel. Not sure if I should wait it out a few days or rebatch fairly soon.

EVOO 16oz
Lard 12oz
Palm kernel flakes 4oz
crisco 2oz

H2O 12oz
Lye 4.45
3 TBS sugar
cotton ball sized amount of silk, dissolved in lye water

ultramarine blue
red #33
activated charcoal
gold mica swirled on top
scented with twilight FO

Here are the pics. There should only be three colors, blue, purple and grey. Thats not counting the glittery gold on top.

Pictures?
The smell should disapate but I'm curious about the colors you are talking about. The green spackle sounds like it could be caused by the blue not fully mixed in to the batter.

I haven't heard of brown.. But I know the pk flakes are higher than I researched to use. I do 5% and think 10 is the max you want.

But you have no other hard oil.. Interesting. Curious what others say.

Yeah, my PK is at 11%. I should have added a bit more of a different oil to get the percentage down. I wonder if the crackle could be from overheating since I used sugar?
If the discoloring is just cosmetic then I can live with this being a personal batch but I am very disappointed. I was trying for a night sky type coloration not a muddles mess:(
The green spots are kinda the color of the uncolored batter. I will never buy EVOO again, not even if its on sale. That green is near impossible to color over.

Yes it's a pain.. I have 3 35 gallon boxes for other items so I use it but really want to try the lighter that you use. Think they soap the same?
If u sell, it's great for mysterious Halloween! :)

The crackle effect and streaks looks like those are from over heating.
Have you zap tested the spots?

I haven't zap tested the spots yet but I will. I poked at a spot with a toothpick, its soft and oily and it smells like FO. The chemical smell is almost gone this morning. Bars are still ugly.
Extra light OO seems to hit trace a bit faster and when I used it for castile, I was able to cut sooner and the bars were harder. It only took a few days for the bars to get hard as a rock. The batch of castle I made with EVOO is still soft even after a week.
