I want to make a very gentle baby soap with avocado pulp, not avocado oil, which I can't afford. Do I have to take into consideration the oil content and if so, how? Soapcalc does not offer a SAP value for avocado pulp but I don't want to risk an oil-heavy or DOS-prone soap. Any advice would be greatly welcome.

I'd assume you would treat it the same as any other fruit puree addition. I'd start with 1tbsp ppo added at trace. I haven't tried avocado though, so I'm not sure if it behaves differently than other fruit purees.

I should have mentioned... when I've added fruit purees, I subtract the weight of the puree from the water but make sure I don't go over 1tbsp of puree ppo.I don;t know if that is a hard/fast rule, but it's waht has worked for me in the past.

soaping 101 did a video on it where she added more than that...

Ooh, thank you, Snappy Llama! I googled but the Soaping 101 video did not show up. Hugs!

I usually use around 1 medium avocado in a batch of soap with 63 oz of oil. I do not worry about the fat, but then I am a low superfatter so the extra does not hurt. Do use California or Mexico Avocados. Florida Avocados to not have the rich oil content. I am making a couple of batches of Avocado soap tonight. That is if I get off the computer...:)
