So here is the post

http://soapmakingforum.com/forum/viewto ... sc&start=0

It's basically about using shaved soap, water and pectin to make some sort of liquid soap. I just wonder is this ok to make and use without a preservative? I mean it does have water. I really like the idea and would love to try it for shampoo as they mentioned in that post. I wasn't really sure if I should reply on that post as it has been dead for about a year, if so I apologize for making a new post about it.

I remember this, I even bought the pectin, decided not to do it because liquid soap is easier anyway. I would think using that as a shampoo would be the same as using bar soap. If I made it, I would use a preservative.

Personally, I would use a preservative but I'm also pretty cautious by nature.

Your child is very cute!

I want to try it so bad but so far have only stuck to CP soap and so don't have any preservatives. Sighs I guess I will just wait until I can make my order to learn lotion making. Well regardless of the wait I still love the art of bath and body products :)

That is my oldest daughter I should really put a picture up with all of my kids but I was in a rush when I first made this account and just grabbed the first picture I found on my drive hehe. Thank you for the compliment I think she is beautiful too :D

I, too, remember this post and used to make liquid shampoo with this exact recipe. I never used any preservative in mine (except a few drops of vitamin e) and never had a problem. The shampoo/liquid soap didn't have a nice consistency--it was like liquid snot (sorry for being blunt). It would sometimes separate and get stuck in the bottom of the shampoo bottles and I would have to add more water and shake, shake to get it to come out. I only made it for a few months and found it to be more trouble than it was worth. Have gone back to shampoo bars. You may want to try it though and see if it might work out better for you.. :)
