Hey

I forgot to add my citric acid to my soap. I just notice my measured out citric acid sitting on my counter

Is it still usable? Or is it too lye heavy that it will make the skin itch?

Smh disappointed in myself... 1st time this happen to me lol

I don't think that it will be lye heavy unless your CA amount is higher than I use, or you target superfat was low.

One way to check for certain is to put the recipe in to a calc with a 0% superfat and see how much lye that would need - if you used less than that then your you should be okay.

It said 61.36g

My recipe use 59.4g... should be ok

Hello :) This is my first post here and it comes after a mess up... I also forgot to add my citric acid; somehow missed the pot right in front of my eyes.
But on my case, even though I had set a 7% superfat for the recipe, if I set to 0% I'm still with 1gram excess lye (had calculated 2% citric acid - 24g x0.624 >> add 14,976 g Lye = Total Lye with adjustment for citric acid = 177,5g)
I don't think this will result in a completely unusable soap, but it's killing me as I believe it will be way more aggressive than what I would like.
I was thinking of rebatching using Ciaglia method but was wondering if adding the citric acid to the rebatch would work. Couldn't find info about it.
I believe adding the proportional oils would also work but aaaaaa am confused.
Any experiences with these options?
Thanks a million for any help I can get đź’—
ps - I'm not English native so, if my writing is a bit weird, that's why
