My version of Lush's shower jelly. Small molds are not perfect for this jelly soap. Also need to add a little more gelatine next time.

1 packet of gelatine
3/4 cup boiling water
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup shower gel, liquid soap, bath gel your own choise
food color or soap color
If you use unscented shower gel you can scent it with EO/PO

Mix the gelatine in the water till it resolves. Add the shower gel. Mix in the salt, color and scent. Pour in mold and let it set in the fridge for 3-12 hours. You can also add some Vitamine E. You can use it to wash yourself or drop it in the bathtub. Store it in a cool place.

I scented mine with mountain breeze

That is so nice Lesley,
I've been meaning to try my hand at jelly soap.
Thanks for sharing your recipe and pics :) I have to do it now, no more excuses :)

hi

what is the self life on these jellies?

I'm bothered about making a batch and it goes off before I've managed to use up the batch

thanks

Pam

Lesley,

That is so cool! I especially like the name Flubber. It's a perfect name for it and I bet kids would really love this in the tub. Thanks for sharing the pics and recipe. It would be fun to try it. :D

I also wondered if preservative should be added because of the extra water. Does the salt help to preserve it?

You also mentioned small molds "are not perfect" for this soap. Is that a typo or would it be better to use a larger mold.

I made these a few times for my kids, except instead of the shower gel, I used mp. I always make them up the day they plan on using it. They do get moldy if you don't preserve them. I left a small container of it in my kids bathroom once and my oldest went to use one a few days later and mold had already started growing on it.

Those are just fun. How many people besides me remembers the movie "Flubber"? I can see those being such a hit!

I like the original movie much more than the remake. Although I think I was only like 17 when the remake came out.

I know I saw the original when I was young (ahem...on TV quite a few years after it was released). I didn't see the remake but I vaguely remember it being advertised.
