Flavor Oils for Lip Balms

Hi Everyone,

Can candy flavor oils be used in lip balms? I'm trying to find or make some different flavors. They seem hard to find.
Any ideas?

I would think not, but I am not totally sure. Reason being that food grade flavors could decrease shelf life and possibly encourage bacterial/fungal growth. Cosmetic grade ingredients would be intended to be shelf stable and not provide a medium for microbial growth.
