Flavor oil- how much?

I used a flavor oil tonight in lip balm that is turning out not that strong. I used the recommended max (3%) but it just wasn't that strong. Can one safely go over 3%?

I wouldn't go over the 3%, especially since this is a product that will probably be ingested.

Did you stir it really, really well? Also, how hot was the balm before you mixed in the flavor oil?

Different brands can be used at different strengths. Always stick w/ your suppliers suggestion on that topic.

95% of flavor oils are not flavored at all. They are just lip safe fragrance oils.

Bittercreek has a wonder line of flavor oils that are indeed flavored and sweet. I would try those if I were you.

I thought I stirred good- maybe my oils were too hot? They were very well blended before the flavor oil was added.

I am going to check out Bittercreek. Thanks for the suggestion.

ETA- do you recommend the south store or the one in Ashland?

Bittercreek has some excellent Flavor Oils. I love their Honey Bee Mine, it's a nice subtle flavor.

When ordering from Bittercreek, probably go with the closest one to where you live. I live in Wisconsin, so shipping to me from Ashland is really good.
