Re: First Seize!! - Cut pics added

I LOVE THE LITTLE RASCALS!! And I know that episode. :D

How did you do the pink balls? (That didn't sound right.) And how did you make the stamp? Did you carve it out wood or rubber?[/quote]

Yes, it was a classic show. Actually, we only watched re-runs, so we're not THAT old.

I made the "polka dots" out of a previous batch of pink soap. One of the bars got mangled after coming out of the mold and I'd seen some pics of polka dot soap that I loved! The soap was only a bit more than 24 hrs old and hadn't gelled, so it was soft enough to roll with my hands.

The stamp was made using brush-on latex, spread on the grill of a model my husband has. I want to make pink Jeep soap for a ladies run we're having this fall. Thought it best to start now in case it didn't work the first time.

It's a pretty blue!
Next time it seizes in the pot; let it. Then let it go to gel right in the pot.

Hmm...I never thought of leaving it in the pot, but then again, I really wanted cut bars, so that wouldn't have worked. I think it'll turn out fine - despite a few voids.

no no - just leave it into the pot until it's in full gel and is softer and easier to finish mixing completely and to mash into the mold.

Oh! Heh heh. I see what you mean now. Thanks for the clarification. So much to learn, but I'm having fun.

I rolled some of the blue, um... "polka dots" tonight, so I'll give it another go in the near future.

I think that soapbuddy meant to let it gel in the pot and THEN glop it into your mold. It should be easier to handle after gelling then right after seizure.

Yes, that's what I meant.

Thanks for all of your great comments everyone. I had a 1/2 inch slice left after cutting, and tried it in the shower last night. There's oodles of creamy lather and it smells lovely, but as honor435 pointed out, extra cleansing, therefore drying (especially on the lower legs). I'll use extra moisturizer. Lesson learned.
